Hi, I’m Hemalatha — and I’m completely obsessed with bags. 👜
Not just making them. Not just designing them. But finding the perfect pattern for every kind of maker — and that’s exactly why I created Bag Pattern Hub.
I’m a PDF bag pattern designer from Bangalore, India, and the founder of Hemazing Patterns. But my journey here wasn’t a straight line — far from it!
My Story
I spent 13 years as a software engineer before I finally listened to that quiet voice that had always whispered “you’re meant to make things.” With my husband’s support, I made the leap, borrowed my sister’s sewing machine, and taught myself bag-making through YouTube videos. What started as a passion turned into a full-fledged pattern design business — and I’ve never looked back.
I grew up in a small village in Coimbatore, where choosing crafts as a career wasn’t exactly encouraged. But I’ve always believed that creativity finds a way.
So, Why This Blog?
As a designer, I spend a lot of time in the world of bag patterns — researching, sewing, testing, and comparing. I know how overwhelming it can be to stare at dozens of beautiful patterns and have no idea where to start. Which one is right for your skill level? Which designer’s instructions are the clearest? Which pattern gives you the most bang for your buck?
That’s what Bag Pattern Hub is here for.
Here, I share honest reviews, curated round-ups, and beginner-friendly guides to help you navigate the wonderful world of indie bag sewing patterns — so you spend less time second-guessing and more time sewing! ✂️
Beyond the Blog
Whether it’s designing my own patterns or helping you discover your next favourite one, my mission is the same — to help you make something beautiful that’s truly yours.
When I’m not buried in pattern pieces, you’ll find me cooking up something delicious for my husband and two boys — because creating food and creating bags aren’t all that different. Both take love, creativity, and a little bit of patience. 😄
Welcome to Bag Pattern Hub — I’m so glad you’re here!
Have questions or a pattern you’d like me to review? Drop me a line at hemazingbags@gmail.com — I’d love to hear from you!
